Canada winter games yukon

Held every two-years, the Arctic Winter Games is the premier circumpolar sport and cultural event for youth hosting up to 2, participants and an equal number of volunteers. The AWGIC reviews its sport technical packages, in conjunction with its stakeholders once every two years, however the postponement of the Games caused a unique circumstance with age categories. The International Committee engaged in an extensive consultative process with our valued Chefs de Mission from Participating Units.

We considered both the Chefs and their sport organizations critical feedback and we analysed the potential effects that changing the sport age categories could have. We came to the conclusion to maintain the draft Technical Packages years of birth was the fairest situation for the youth participants. Arrow Created with Sketch. The Games. The Games Upcoming Games. There is nothing that brings Canadians together like the Canada Games. As the Bid Committee starts developing the plans for the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, people are becoming excited about what this will mean for our community, for the north and for the entire country. The last Canada Winter Games that Whitehorse hosted in was a monumental experience for me and in many ways shaped my career in cross country skiing. Hosting the Games again in will provide incredible opportunities for our next generation of athletes.

I'm very excited to be involved and look forward to witnessing the great experiences it will provide both athletes and our community. The Canada Games Council, a private, non-profit organization, is the governing body for the Canada Games.

Held once every two years, alternating between winter and summer, the Canada Games represent the highest level of national competition for up and coming Canadian athletes.
